In early June, Brent and I attended and participated with the Prayer Team at the March for Jesus event that took place in old downtown Bastrop, Texas. Also attending the march with us was Shepherd Ministries of Central Texas Board Secretary, Cindy Weaver. An estimated 1,000 people attended the event, and the march path was from Fisherman’s Park to the Bastrop County Courthouse, about a half mile walk. The march from the park to Main Street was an uphill battle, but we did not have to carry a wooden cross. Thank you, Jesus! We all gathered on the Courthouse lawn with a praise and worship band on stage and a prayer tent hosted by the Bastrop Prayer & Healing Rooms. The Salvation Army had set up drinks and snack bars for all who attended. Some of the Pastors associated with the Bastrop Christian Ministerial Alliance (the hosts of this event) took turns speaking and gave words of inspiration. Next year we are praying that this event will grow into the multitude of thousands - like the sermon on the mount.

Shepherd Ministries of Central Texas has been shepherding Brian. Brian is an elderly disabled veteran who is fighting liver cancer and has been experiencing radiation treatment. He has no family nearby, so I was able to transport Brian to his second radiation treatment and we talked about his life and about Jesus.

Brent and I have known Brian since the time we lived at the Cedar Valley RV Park and ministered to the community there. After Brian sold his RV and moved out of state, he returned months later to say he had moved back to Bastrop but had no place to go, and that Brent and I were his only friends. We helped Brian find the tiny home he is living in today in a tiny home community. He only found out last month that he has liver cancer. We are glad to be able to help Brian, especially at this trying time in his life. Please keep him in your prayers for his healing and for relationship restoration with his family.

Our friend Dalilah, the Wesley nurse here in Bastrop, has a way of finding resources for “the least of these,” and Shepherd Ministries has the blessing of being one of her “go to” contacts for help. She recently reached out to Brent regarding one such case, which was a 30 yr. old man named Michael.
Michael had burst into Dalilah’s office talking about how he was the Messiah or quite possibly the anti- Christ. Whatever it was - something intense was about to happen! So, Dalilah contacted Brent for help to see what he could do to help this young man who was clearly in distress.

After setting up an appointment with Michael, Brent knew he was far gone into his delusion, but nothing the REAL Jesus, could not fix. So, with the words of life Christ gave Brent for Michael and the comfort of having a similar story, which meant Brent could relate, Michael “came off the edge” and began to settle down in his mind. He was very suspicious of “religion” as well as “people in general,” but within a month of him agreeing to our local Christian Men’s meetings, church services, and his personal time with Brent - just riding around and talking, he came out of his delusional shell and realized there was indeed a Messiah, but it was not him. And he was not the anti-Christ either.
In fact, Jesus truly did rescue Michael and we had the privilege of baptizing him in the Colorado River a couple of weeks ago. We see a strong bond that has developed as we get to witness our little brother explore who he is in God’s family, and his love for others that are around him that need the same love he has been shown. With his faith in the Lord, Michael has been blessed with a new job too. Amen!

Keep praying for Michael as his family is restored and blessed through the amazing transformation of a man willing to humble himself and say “yes” to the call of the amazing love of our Heavenly Father!

Brent and I would like to ask you to pray for these people who are fighting some form of cancer or disease. Alan S., Ken M., Brian F., Terrye P., Cliff H., Paul G., Fran O., Ruthy A., Randy G. and Brenda F. And let us all come against covid in the name of Jesus! Amen! Please let us know who we can be praying for within your circle of influences. We also would like prayer for Shepherd Ministries of Central Texas. We have submitted a letter of intent for a grant from Methodist Healthcare and we have been told our letter is still in review, which is a hopeful thing! If accepted, we will be able to apply for their grant, which will help to reach more people for Christ. We would love favor from the Lord - if it is His will. Thank you all so much for your love, prayers, and support. And to Give please go to our website or mail your gift to the address below. Together we are Shepherd Ministries of Central Texas! We love you family!
